NZAME History
The New Zealand Association of Miniature Enthusiasts was formed in 1980 and now boasts over 400 members and 25 individually run Clubs throughout New Zealand.
The aims of NZAME have grown over the past 32 years but their main objective stands - to promote the craft of miniature making and collecting throughout New Zealand, plus to organise the Biennial Convention and be responsible for publishing a twice yearly magazine.
Miniature making and collecting is an extremely fast growing hobby - not only in New Zealand but overseas as well.
Here in New Zealand many of our members and miniaturists attempt to learn and construct their own houses, shops, boxrooms, furniture and accessories. It seems we are not content to be be just collectors.
The 'hands on' approach is embraced by many here and the fabulous tutor training that is offered to all the different Clubs and members around New Zealand by the NZAME has bought the skill level and knowledge to high standards throughout the country.
Many Clubs and groups are also finding it encouraging the amount of younger enthusiasts that are joining us. Allowing the talents of older members to now be passed on to younger hands - ensuring the skills are not lost but live on and thrive for all to share.
It’s Almost Time Again ! ...
Preparations are well underway for this years NZAME Convention.
The wonderful members in the Dunedin Miniatures Club will be our hosts in October ( Labour Weekend - October 19th-22nd ) and they are already thrilled at the response from eager tutors willing to tutor workshops!
Their theme this Convention of "New Zealand through the eyes of the miniaturist" - Kiwiana ... has been embraced and is encouraging the various Clubs to really use their imagination and devise a treat for the display also!
Updates about the Convention venue, workshops, meals and of course the Convention Dinner can be found on our Convention page here on the NZAME website - Mike and the Dunedin team will be 'counting us down' to what is sure to be another FANTASTIC weekend filled with friends, laughter and loads of 'miniaturing madness' !
We wish them all the very best and look forward to sharing a great time with them later this year.
